Veteran Bay Area television journalist Ken Wayne, who has worked as an anchor and reporter at KTVU in Oakland for more than 25 years, has departed the station.
Wayne’s last day was April 19. At press time, it is unknown where he would wind up next. An announcement, Wayne said in late April, will be forthcoming.
The Bay Area native joined KTVU in 1991, becoming one of the station’s field reporters for its Mornings On 2 newscast. Wayne would eventually go on to anchor the station’s weekend newscasts, beginning in 2002. Prior to that, he left briefly to serve as an anchor at KXTV in Sacramento, but returned to KTVU shortly thereafter.
Wayne also worked at KNTV in San Jose, when the station was an ABC affiliate.
In recent years, Wayne also served two terms on the Board of Governors of the San Francisco/Northern California Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Early in his career, he spent time at stations in Palm Springs, Chico and Fresno.
