While the Bay Area is beautiful and Rick Quan enjoyed his many years spent both at KPIX-TV and KGO 7, few places are truly as beautiful as the Hawaiian Islands. That’s one of the reasons he chose to return to KITV in 2021 where he had previously worked for 7 years as a sports anchor and reporter before moving to San Francisco. Quan said that Honolulu has changed since his last job there last but that the spirit of Aloha is strong. He now anchors the 5, 6 & 10PM Island News for KITV. Quan has been honored with numerous awards including two regional Emmy® awards and recognition from RTNDA and Associated Press. Perhaps best known for his work as anchor and sportscaster, he’s also an award-winning documentary producer who has profiled a number of Asian American pioneers including the late Ed Lee, the first Asian American Mayor of San Francisco. Quan continues to be active in the Asian American community, helping non-profits including the Chinese Historical Society of America.
