Lasky

PHILIP G. LASKY, KQED, started in broadcasting in Denver in 1922. He came to San Fran­cisco in 1935 and took over KSFO. He put KPIX on the air, Christmas Eve 1948, and soon after televised the first East/West Game. He sold Ch. 5 to Group W in 1955 and stayed on as GM and West Coast VP, retiring in 1968. He is now serving his second term on the KQED Board of Directors. He was honored by the Academy in 1974 with a Certificate of  Merit.
