The Foundation of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced in December the 2020 National Student Production Awards nominees. They were selected from high school student entries across the country in 24 programming and craft categories.
“The future journalists, analysts, correspondents and entertainers of the next generation will be found among these talented young nominees represented here,” said Adam Sharp, President & CEO, NATAS.
The San Francisco/Northern California Chapter of NATAS received 12 nominations out of 15 entries in the National Student Production Awards!
Congratulations to Moanalua High School, Honolulu, HI with 4 nominations.
A pair of nominations each went to Buchanan High School, Clovis, Tamapalis High School, Mill Valley and the Academy of Integrated Humanities and New Media (AIM).
Franklin High School, Elk Grove, Wai’anae High School, Searider Productions, Wai’anae. HI and Whitney High School, WCTV19, Rocklin each garnered one nomination.
“We are thrilled to be able to honor the extraordinary students and their teachers at the National level and equally proud that many Student Production Award recipients cite the recognition by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as the validation that propelled them to choose a career in media,” said Danielle Mannion, Education Chair, NATAS.
This year’s submissions were successfully culled from over 2000 entries from the regional chapters of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Entries were judged by selected industry professionals and media academics.
Recipients will be announced in early February via a web stream produced by NATAS.
The SF/NorCal chapter’s 2020-2021 Student Production Awards are now open – deadline March 31, 2021. Some additional good news: due to COVID-19, the Board of Governors voted to waive the entry fee for this year!
If you know of a high school within our chapter that may be interested in participating in the Student Production Awards, please contact chapter Education Committee Chair Keith Sanders at tvsanders1@gmail.com.
