On the Move – March 2019

Julie Watts, consumer investigative reporter, news anchor and meteorologist at KPIX 5 in San Francisco, joins KOVR CBS13 in Sacramento as consumer investigative reporter. It is a return to Sacramento for Watts. From 2005 to 2008, she was a meteorologist, reporter and host at KCRA. In 2008, she was a reporter, producer, photographer and editor at KVIE. She joined KPIX in 2009. Watts is no stranger to the San Francisco/Northern California Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences: in addition to serving on the Chapter’s Board of Governors, Watts was chairperson of the Chapter’s annual Emmy® Awards Gala from 2012 to 2017.

Melanie Woodrow

Melanie Woodrow, news reporter at KGO-TV ABC7 in San Francisco, joins the station’s investigative unit as an investigative reporter. Woodrow joined the station in 2015. She also served on the Board of Governors of the San Francisco/Northern California Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences from 2014 to 2017.

Leigh Martinez, news reporter at KTVU Fox 2 in Oakland, is continuing her tenure there but is now dividing her time to serve as senior account executive at Clarity PR in San Francisco. She has been with KTVU since 2016.

Sunshine Kuhia Smith joins the Hawaii television news community as weekend assignment manager at KITV in Honolulu. It is her first foray into television news. For 22 years, Smith worked at the YMCA of Honolulu, most recently as youth program director.

Kevin Wing, journalist at KNTV NBC Bay Area in San Jose, is continuing his tenure there but splitting his time to also serve on the content writing team at Google in Mountain View. Since 2010, Wing has served on the Board of Governors of the San Francisco/Northern California Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He has served as editor of the Chapter’s Off Camera newsletter since 2013.
