Mike Mangas is a legend in the Chico-Redding television market, and it is easy to see why.

He has been with KRCR, the ABC station in Redding, since 1975. That year, he joined the station as an intern while attending California State University, Chico.

Mangas parlayed the internship into a career at the station, first as a sports anchor for 20 years before switching to news for the following 22 years.

But, after 42 years at KRCR, Mangas has decided to leave television to try something new. He is joining the staff of Mercy Medical Center in Tehama County.

“It would be impossible to put into words what this TV station has meant to me for more than 40 years,” Mangas says. “I’ve loved my time here, and I will truly miss my co-workers and the viewers.”

Without a doubt, viewers in the Chico-Redding market will miss Mangas’ presence on their TV screens.
