SF/NorCal NATAS members had a great 2017 as far as benefits, including admissions discounts to the futuristic Worlds Fair Nano.
“NATAS members received a 20 percent discount on tickets to the Worlds Fair Nano event in 2017,” says Keith Sanders, the Chapter’s Education Chairperson. “This San Francisco event was an international showcase of the future, featuring the world’s most amazing technology, art, lectures and demonstrations.” Next year’s event will take place on March 10 & 11 at San Francisco’s Pier 48. NATAS members will receive an even better discount for the 2018 Worlds Fair Nano.
SACRAMENTO SATELLITE TRUCK OPERATOR SAVES LIVES DIGGING WATER WELLS
Living Water International is a faith-based program KCRA 3 Satellite Truck Operator Dave Ramos found through his church. From Sacramento, he travels to third-world countries to help dig and build fresh water wells. Every year, 360,000 kids under the age of five die from unsafe drinking water.
Most recently, Ramos went to Haiti.

KRCR ANCHOR LEAVING STATION AFTER 40 YEARS
Mike Mangas is a legend in the Chico-Redding television market, and it is easy to see why.
He has been with KRCR, the ABC station in Redding, since 1975. That year, he joined the station as an intern while attending California State University, Chico.

We’re sitting in a theatre screening of the latest in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series when a cannon explodes. The theatre seats shake. The walls vibrate.
It’s the amazing Dolby Atmos sound system, coupled with its breathtaking projection system. Dolby knocks it out of the park. And we get to watch it in the new Dolby Theatre in San Francisco, designed to optimize their system. We’re treated like movie executives or insiders.
GOLD & SILVER CIRCLE PROFILE: ANTHONY TIANO, CLASS OF 1991
Anthony “Tony” Tiano worked in public television for more than four decades. He managed and operated public television stations. He produced programming for those stations, too. And, while Tiano was immensely talented in all that he did as a television executive, among his greatest accomplishments was serving as the president of San Francisco’s KQED.

Many screenings are previews of first-run movies, and include “Q&A” sessions with the director, producer and/or cast members of the film.
